How do I paint MDF?

Posted by Trish Altieri, on
I have just had a wardrobe fitted and the interior shell and shelving I had made in MDF. How should I paint this to achieve a smooth finish?

Hi Trish, Firstly you need to seal the edges of the mdf with watered down pva glue. once dried apply an acrillic primer with a mini gloss roller, allow to dry and rub down with fine sand paper at least 180grit. Do this twice then apply your finishing coat, preferably not matt as it does not clean well. Good luck Ross
