Hello Sue, its difficult to stop decking becoming slippery throughout the year, Putting another layer such as artificial grass would help but it won't do the decking any good. You could get some chicken wire/mesh and tack it down with staples, this would provide grip and also allow the decking to breathe. Regular brushing with decking cleaner helps but it is rather tiresome. Good luck though!
I always recommend a powerfull jet wash to take off the layer of algie and dirt that make it slippy. This should be quite inexpensive to do also. Hope this helps, James.
