Loft boarding and insulation

Posted by Michele Writer, on
I wat to put down baording in part of my loft, and I also need to increase the depth of insulation. Should I have insulation under the boarded parts?

The boarded part of the loft should be raised around 100mm from the roof trusses then boarded to allow for the extra depth of insulation. This is achieved buy using 100mm x 50mm bearers fixed to the trusses and then 18mm ply fixed to the bearers, so its a solid construction .
