Cold bedroom with Dormer type window

Posted by John Carmody, on
Hi all, Two of the bedrooms in my house are often cold, with one of them being extremely cold. (It was only built in 1994). The latter has a Dormer type window and when I feel the walls around the window they always feel cold. I'm not sure if this is because there might not be any insulation between the walls? We have a second baby on the way and don't want to have any of our children sleeping in a cold room. I'm not too sure how to proceed and welcome any advice! Many thanks. John

The plasterboard needs to be taken down to see what insulation is behind should be rock wall or celotex Then the problem sorted & replastered Regards Gary

The only way to do it is to take a look in the cavity and or around timber frame of doorma which should have at least 100mm of celotex but this investigation will be destructive and needs to be made good by a builder it is probably a little to hard for a diy job
