Hi Charlotte, there are several explanations that can cause this to happen. The main cause is the surface you have painted over could be damp, glossed, greasy, some chemical that is reacting with the water-based emulsion or polished these could all cause blistering of the emulsion. The other possible cause is your paint is old, an easy way to know is if it has a strong unpleasant smell. As a cure you could try coating with oil-based undercoat/primer after preparing the area, scraping away blistering and lightly sanding damaged area. Hope this helps David

Hi Charlotte There could be a problem wit paint( old) or walls are greasy and dirty so I would suggest to clean walls with sugar soap first and wait until dry then paint If this won't help possibly paint is a problem Best regards Rafal

Hi, probably caused by damp or condensation as this will cause this effect, try washing with sugar soap first and when dry use a water based primer then apply emulsion, rgds Tony

Most likely walls are damp /suffering from condensation or not enough time between coats to dry out. If heating not on in room put radiators on for few days with normal heating Ventilate room Clean walls with sugar soap cleaner Retry and if still pealing off / bubbling then sand off old paint to bare walls and use eclipse paint as base coat. I have also saw this when painting over vinyl silk and I used roller with light strokes and didn't over roll, which limited the bubbles

Hello Charlotte, Normally if your paint bubbling it would suggest the wall is wet or damp, Could there be a leak from upstairs or another room? Cheap paint can also bubble Cheers Ian
