Hi Tony I think this guide will let you to understand what it could be a power rating for 6 mm cable 34 amps max if cable is enclosed in conduit in thermally insulating wall 41 amps max if cable is enclosed in conduit on a wall or in trunking etc 47 amps max if cable is clipped direct So for domestic usage By using ohm low max wattage for 34 amp ( typically 32 amp fuse ) 230vx32amp=7360 Watts max I hope this will help Regards Rafal

The maximum current it can pass through a 6 sq mm cable is 47 Amperes if the cable is clipped direct (in open air). If the cable is surrounded by thermal insulation, then the maximum current allowed is 23.5 Amp. So in a domestic property, the allowed values might vary between 30 to 35 Amps, which means an appliance which consumes aprox. 7000 Watts.

Good Afternoon Tony, The maximum current rating is dependant on many things such as installation method, cable grouping and other derating factors. What would be a better method would be describe the intended load and route of the cable to allow a better assessment of its suitability Colin Elston
