Painting a wall

Posted by Ivor Drew, on
I have had a small section of wall replastered and wonder how long I have to wait for it to dry out. I then understrand that I have to dilute the first coat. What is the dilution ratio please?

If you know the thickness of the new plaster , the drying time is 24hours per 1mm thickness. Do not dilute the first coat , it messes with the design of the formula and will result in paint failure later, get a product called plaster primer as your first coat .

Hello Ivor, you will need to wait until the plaster has turned pink throughout, and the ratio for thinning the paint is 5 parts paint to 1 part water. Good luck, Ian
