Hi Kiat Generally you would need to sand the varnish off with a good sandpaper. Use a fairly fine grade so as not to damage the wood. You can also use a paint or varnish remover. This is applied by brush, left to do it's work then scrape off and finish with wire wool to remove all the remainder. Hope this helps Joseph
