first off get a good quality emulsion dulux or crown but it will probably need at least 3 coats dark colours hard to cover

Hi Susan It will prob need quite a few coats of paint I'm afraid to cover up the blue. Best to get a painter n decorator involved for a better idea of exactly the type of paint you need Thanks Russ
