Fit heavy duty shelving to plasterboard

Posted by Chris Mills, on
I would like to fit some shelving strong enough to hold books to my plasterboard walls. I have read some forums that suggest that I can either drill through to the breeze blocks and use extra long wall plugs/screws, or I need to make channels in the plasterboard to fit support for the shelving. Which is the better choice? Or is there another better solution? Thank you for taking the time to read this.

How much is the gap between the plasterboards and the blocks ? If it's only up to 25mm then it might be best to fix uprights of 4" x 1" to the blocks through the board, then fix the shelves to them JC
