If installing a soakaway isn't an option, what else could we do to prevent further basement flooding from excess surface water?

Zia, You could have a pump installed that pumps excess water away to a drain. Otherwise you would need to make the Basement Water Proof and you would need a Builder for this. Bill

Hi Zia, As Bill has said the best way would be to install a pumping system at the lowest point of the basement, or have the basement water proofed but this is very costly and doesn't necessarily solve the problem as the water still has to go somewhere, therefore you often end up driving the problem somewhere else. I think a pump is by far your best and most cost effective option. Rob
