Outdoor drains

Posted by Rosemary S, on
The drain at the base of the down-pipe from the gutter of my house (built 1986) is blocked and the gutter overflows. Recently Dynorod partly cleared it by using (I think) compressed air, through a man-hole at the other end of the pipe. He brought out a lot of soil and roots. He put a camera in the pipe but could not get very far along as it's so compressed. He said the garden would need to be dug up to clear the pipe and that I should claim on my insurance. Later I used a narrow garden trowel to clear soil from the well at the bottom of the down-pipe. Since then it has rained and I can see it's no better. Is there anything else I can try before contacting the insurers?
