not satisfactory and i would therefore say not sate. if i remember right, all equipment should be suitable for the design current. (BS7671, section 5 somewhere) ie 28amps. and a plug and socket arrangement is not designed for this much current. This is why they designed a specific item for the job, ie a cooker connectioon flex outlet plate rated at 45amps. also, did he test the circuit / installation for satefy before putting the item into service and issue a minor works as a minimum? is he a real electrician or a chancer with the mantra 'it will be fine'?? suggest you follow this up to stop this sort of practice going on. check out your NICEIC or electrcical safety council website and find a local registered electrcian and look at the guides they issue informing homeowners how to purchase electrical installation services in safety and understand what questions they need to be asking to ensure they get a satisfactory job done.
