Hi Chris, a 1kW immersion heater is quite unusual except for marine and increasingly solar PV applications. If you are sure it is this rating then you can connect it to a ring circuit via a 13Amp fused switched connector. Standard 3kW immersion heaters should always have their own dedicated circuit.
