Hi Richard, Yes, external wiring is possible and completely legal providing that it has the necessary mechanical and electrical protection. Mechanical protection could be achieved by placing the cable in a plastic or metal conduit (which is just a pipe 20 or 25mm diameter) or by using an armoured cable.
