We would like a electric oven but we need a new wire from the kitchen to the fuse box. Is it possible to have external wiring, and what does it look like?

Hi Richard, Yes, external wiring is possible and completely legal providing that it has the necessary mechanical and electrical protection. Mechanical protection could be achieved by placing the cable in a plastic or metal conduit (which is just a pipe 20 or 25mm diameter) or by using an armoured cable. Electrical protection is provided by supplying the circuit via a 30mA RCD or RCBO. Regards Carl Stator Electrical Solutions Ltd
