Electric oven

Posted by Mary Hayfron-Benjamin, on
Hiya Our Whirlpool oven is 10 years old. 6 months ago we had a new heating element installed. Now the oven has gone again,as well as the grill. Yesterday we smelt and saw a whiff of smoke coming from the electric socket, which powders the oven. The socket is situated under the cabinet next to the oven. We are worried about the electrics in general now, as the smell is still there, and not sure if it becomes exacerbated when we use the toaster and kettle etc. Do we need a new cooker or not. I think we do, but just need another opinion. Kind Regards Mary HB

Hi Mary, from your description it is likely there is a poor connection in the socket supplying the oven. This may also affect other sockets on this circuit. The oven may be OK. Please advertise for an electrician to visit to identify and rectify the fault.

Hello Mary First off all I would suggest to turn your oven off and call for an electrician to carry out test what is causing a problem. After a test he will advice you what to do next. Best regards Rafal
