Hi Phil, Any cooker should be installed on its own dedicated circuit, directly running from you fuse box/consumer unit. To take the feed off a spur could seriously damage lower rated cable supplying other electrics within your house, potentially causing a fire risk. A range cooker if predominantly electric will draw in excess of 40A when fully utilised and therefore should be supplies via at least a 6mm cable, with the final connection between the Oven and the cable being made via a hard wired cooker connection unit. Please also remember that due the kitchen being designated an area of interest to building control, any work will require the necessary certification and notification process and therefore it is advisable to utilise the services of a Part P qualified Electrician.

hi,your range cooker must be connected by minimum 6mm twin and earth cable, the circuit should be protected by a 32 amp mcb or at least a 30amp fuse, the cooker should be then connected to a cooker outlet,if you have any doubts you can always post the job on rated people and get an electrician in your area .

Yes your cooker can be connected to a 40amp connecting cable. the cable should be 6mm and the fuse should be rated at 32amp. The cooker should have its own supply. I trust this assists. thanks, Ian

Hi Phil. You need to confirm with the manufacturer what the connection requirements are. You need to confirm what minimum fuse rating your range needs. Does it come fitted with a 13 amp plug or does it need hard wiring to the circuit?

What would you like to do now?
