Oven back touches plugs

Posted by Sam Ramsden, on
Bought a new integrated oven and back of it touches the plugs for the oven and hob. Is this safe? ie does the oven get hot at the back?

Hi,as already stated by Charles a means of isolation is required, you need to be able to gain access in the event of a fault also the sockets that connect to the appliances shouldn't be directly behind the cooker due to heat and other influances.

Hi Sam I would get the socket moved as heat build up is a concern for electricians. Today's ovens are very well insulated and are designed to keep all the heat in but over time some of this insulation quality is lost. Also should you need to isolate the oven (turn if off) toy wont be able to get access, and under fault conditions this could be dangerous. Better safe than sorry.
