What trade? Cap off LPG & upgrade consumer unit for double oven

Posted by Nina Morgan, on
I need a tradesperson who is lpg certified to cap off and remove an existing built in gas oven. This will be replaced by a double electric oven, I have been informed I will need the consumer unit to be fitted with a 32 amp switch and then cable and isolating plate for the new oven. The new oven will be installed into the existing housing which will require to be reconfigured. I've selected electricians in the category below but I'm not sure that it could easily be a plumber I need and/or a kitchen fitter? Please help.

Dear Nina I would suggest to post your job description on main website for gas engineer specialising in LPG installation then 3 companies will contact you to obtain no obligation quote. You would receive e mail with a details of those companies and links to their website where you will be able to see their qualification and previous jobs what they have done with customer revious. After that you will choose the right person who is confident to sort your problem out. I hope this will help Best regards Rafal

Hello there, You will probably need a registered gas fitter to remove the existing cooker, but an electrician will be able to supply and fit a new consumer unit with the correct size breaker. As for costs it is not easy to say as it depends on where the supply is in relation to the new cooker point. You will need a consumer unit, cooker isolator switch and cooker point fitting. On top of this cable depending on distance. I trust this assists, thankyou, Ian

Hello Nina, Welcome to this site. I would suggest you put the job under plumbing, once your jobs been seen by the tradesmen they will know if they can do it. Best to get an on site survey/quotation done, this is a free service to you and you will get 3 quotes. Simply post your job onto rated people's site. You are not obliged to go with any of the quotes- but ever job that's posted is paid for by the relevant tradesmen.if they contact you that means they are interested in your job. If one of them are awarded the job then great news for you both. Remember it's a free site so you can put the job on as many times as you wish-under different trades. ratedpeople.com Regards Michael

Hi Nina You need a 'lpg certified/gas safe' engineer to cap off the gas supply, these can be found in the plumbing/heating engineer category. For the electrics you need a 'registered' qualified electrician. Please ensure that they are part p & 17th edition compliant and registered with a governing body such as Elecsa/NICEIC. You will need an installation certificate for the works carried out. Regards
