Broken light bulb in fitting

Posted by emma gray, on
My light bulb exploded in its wall fitting and I cant get the metal base out. when I turn the base of the bulb it wont come out, however haven't tried to pull hard as don't want to damage the fitting or potentially electrocute myself. the light switch is off. Do I need an electrician to have a look at it?

Hi,to reduce the risk of electric shock, switch of the electric at the consumer unit, use a pair of pliers and firmly hold the base that is left from the broken bulb, push down and twist at the same time as if removing a bulb from its holder, that should remove the base of the bulb.
