Hi Michelle With electrics one room at a time is possible . I think you will find that when an electrician tests your system if in need of replacment they will advise to do all at once , but one room is possible at a time but do before papering Kind regards Paul

Hi Michelle 100% do the re-wire prior to paint & dec. It is possible to do bit by bit but will add to the over all cost as this will add extra visits and time to the electrician. You do not have to take all cables back to the board each time to maintain services. Simply rewire the room and leave the old cables in place. When doing the rewire leave the new cable on the reel until it is ready for the next area and connect it all up to the board, sockets and switches at the end. This is only possible if the socket boxes have the room to accomadate the extra cable and an access route can be achieved for the new cable while the old stays in place. If there is no room in the socket box for new and old cables leave new cable out until the end which will be unsightly and leave a small wraggle patch to fill after cutting back the old and fitting the new cables into the switch box ......following?. Again adding extra cost for the decorator too. But still allows for you to pay in stages. However, I do highly recomend doing the re wire in one job as my suggestion is not ideal and difficult to manage. The Electrician will allways do his best to cause minimal damage which can often be lived with for a time while you go room by room decorating. Hope this helps Gary

Hi Michelle, always get your electrician in first on any project. Do a rewire all at once to minimise cost and overall disruption. cheers Andy.

Hi,i would recommend you have a rewire completed as normal and not on several visits,it would not be cost effective and you may get the room you are decorating completed but you might find that a lot of other area's are affected whilst running cables under floor's/lofts.

What would you like to do now?
