Replacing halogen bulbs with led bulbs

Posted by faz azim, on
Hi, I was wondering if I could replace my existing recessed downlight MR16 bulbs, which are 12v, 35W with LED ones, if so would I need to change anything esle, such as wiring etc? thanks

Hi Faz, You might need to change the transformers running the lights. You would need to check the max and min wattage or amperes the transformers will run. Because you would be going from a 35w lamp to a (approximately)4 watt LED lamp. cheers Andy

Hi Faz You should be able to 'straight swap' your lamps. There are more and more LED types coming out all the time which are a little harder to understand if you can swap but for the time being the majority of the lamps available are a 'straight swap'. Regards Charles Wisdom Electrical Experts
