9.5 shower rewire and fuse board change.

Posted by John Amor, on
I have an older fuse board with resettable fuses. My shower is spurred from a disused cooker point and trips after 8 minutes but resets straight away. The shower is 50ft away from the fuse board and a new cable could go under the lounge floor but would have to be surface mounted through the kitchen into the bathroom as it's a concrete floor. Is this possible

John, It sounds like your shower is too large for the current circuit it is on. That size of shower would need to go on 10mm Twin+ Earth cable with a 45a mcb and would now have to have a RCD fitted so you have to alter/upgrade the current consumer unit. You can run the cable in white trunking so yeah its possible. Post the job on the man section of the site and an electrician local to you should get in touch to discuss Thanks Russ
