House rewiring?

Posted by James Galloway, on
Old house in need of renovation. I need to reconfigure the sockets and lights in every room as there are not enough and they are all halfway up walls (to make it easier for the old couple that lived there before us I think). Is it better / cheaper to tackle and reconfigure each room one by one or just rip it all out and start again?

Rip it out and start again. It's a difficult scenario. I don't believe it's good practice to add good cable onto old cable. Also, the existing cable will have deteriorated somewhat over time and may give poor IR results. Wayne Fusedright.com

Hi James You would be better perhaps doing it floor by floor rather than room by room. If you altering lights downstairs you will need floorboards up so do them all at same time if they need doing It will be the same with upstairs sockets. Upstairs lighting wont really matter as work will be mainly carried out in the loft Hope this helps Russ
