Extending a lighting circuit in to the loft

Hi guys, I want to extend my lighting circuit into the loft, would i be right in thinking i can cut into an existing lighting cable wire in a 20amp junction box then run a new piece of 1.5mm cable to the new light then run another piece of 1.5mm cable to the light switch? thanks scott

Hi Scott, Make sure you break into a perm live feed not an existing switch cable. Yes run your cable from the JB into your switch(it will be easier if your wiring a loft light,save coming back to the switch) then out to your light.I presume you know how to wire it that way. If in any doubt at all just contact an electrician.It wont cost much and may be cheaper in the long run if you mess it up. I can help if your in Lancashire Thanks Russ
