How much work is it to combine 2 houses wiring together?

Even if the supply cables are joined into a single consumer unit you still need an electrician to asses the configuration of the circuits in the house, relocate some of the switches, join the lighting circuits on the hallways, rewire the circuits in the kitchen to have only one kitchen, etc. Probably a partial rewiring would be the best thing to do rather than joining some of the circuits.

As has been stated it should be a relatively straight forward job If You wanted all circuits returning to a single consumer unit then extending the circuits of the redundant board should pose no significant issues The energy supplier must be informed to make the redundant supply safe Also make sure you get it certified at completion

Usually we get asked to separate two properties in order to make them self contained and ensure higher yield, but bringing the electric systems together is relatively straightforward job too. It would allow you to have only one electric meter(and Bill) for the property and transform the space where one of the fuse boxes and meters currently is into something else by moving the two fuse boxes together. You can get a separate larger fuse box to accommodate the wiring of the current two or keep the existing ones if they are up to date with the regulations. Power would be taken from where the cable is adequate and bigger size at the moment. Most probably they would be the same size (not always) so you will decide which fuse box and feed wire would be the leading one and which would remain secondary in the whole circuit . Option 1: If you want to have them put together this would mean all wires extended and moved to the other property or Option 2 if they remain separate, but one is the leading one then an armoured cable (if over 3m distance) from the fuse box with the feeding wire would run to the one in the second property. The redundant wire would be cut off and safely isolated. This would involve some make good and touch up afterwards depending on which option you would prefer. Certified in the end by a registered electrician. Energy suppliers would be notified by you.

In principle to combine the two property's is very much a standard job, but the actual practicalities will depend on the amount of other work that is being undertaken and a site visit by an electrical contractor is an absolute must Kind regards
