Selling Home : Do I need A Part P Certificate?

Hi, I'm looking at selling my house soon (I bought as new build in 2000). I had some work carried out years ago which to be honest I had clean forgot about, and I'm trying to figure out if I need a Part P Cert for it ... Looking online I don’t think so, but don’t want any nasty surprises down the selling process so thought best to check. 1. Single Socket Spur In the bed room for a TV Taken from a double socket in the bedroom with twin and earth Goes vertically up in the wall cavity into loft space, across the loft floor for a short distance, then back down into the wall cavity for the new socket behind the TV. Approx. 3 meters I would say. 2. House Alarm Twin & earth Fused spur taken from the lighting ring in the loft. And also feeds the bell box on the outside wall, with the cable running over the loft floor. It was done that long ago I've got no chance of tracking the person down who did it, even if I could remember..... But I’m hoping that there both non notifiable pieces of work so I'm ok for selling my home? Thanks for your time. Fin

Hi Fin If your house was a new build in 2000 then the cabling to your sockets etc should have black & red coloured cables connecting into the sockets and light switches etc. If any of the extra work you have had done has blue & brown cables connected to the accessories then it is post 2005 and, from how you describe it, should have had a minor works certificate issued. As already mentioned by Nigel, if you get yourself a full electrical installation condition report (EICR) then that will report on the entire electrical installation. Regards Darren

Hi Fin Your Electrical Installation Certificate will now be out of date anyway as they only last 10 years. If you get an Electrical Installation Confition Report done then that will cover all work, even the bits added after the first installation. This will highlight any problems or potential problems if any. There shouldnt be many issues with it being a new build from 2010. The extra work you have had done I cant speak for though.
