Replacing a cut hedge cutter cord

Posted by Beth McNaughton, on
I have taken my hedge cutter apart to fix a cord that had been cut through. This will be shorter as I’m using the existing cord rather than a new one. On taking it apart there is a connector block with 4 wire ports which each of the wires (blue & brown) will go into on the one side. My problem is that there are 4 wires at the other end, a red & black together & a blue & brown together which each fit into the other side. What wire goes into what side? Ie what side does the brown live wire go into? The side opposite the red & black or the blue & brown?

I'd leave it for someone who knows what they're doing and they can test it for you afterwards to make sure its safe.
