Tradesman damage

Posted by Rebecca Indelicato, on
What do I do if a tradesman has damaged my solid oak wood flooring, whilst laying, and subsequent attempts to repair have made matters worse, resulting in permanent damage - scratch marks from Stanley knife used to remove glue, and discolouration from spray used.

Hi Rebecca Do you know where the flooring has been supplied from? If so, contact the supplier and ask them to come and have a look at the problem. They will more than likely be happy to help. There are probably a couple of ways this can be rectified. Make sure you give the fitter a chance to fix the job as mistakes do happen, but they should always be fixed at the tradesman expense. Hi Rebecca, firstly contact your tradesman surely he must have guaranteed your work when finished,if he his anything of a decent trader and cares about his reputation then he would sort it.There is such a thing as a board replacement but chances are knife damage would have damaged more than one board. If your trader was from this sight and refuses to rectify it then report it with a bad review just warning others not to use his services.hope this helps, however if you have any questions i am more than happy to answer.regards john select floors

Hi. You should ask the tradesman to rectify the problem at his own cost. With solid wood planks you can replace individual boards if you have spares and you know what you are doing. I hope this helps, Vladimir Vlad's Handyman Services
