Buying karndean flooring

Posted by Alison Balmforth, on
I am thinking of putting karndean flooring in my kitchen and dinning room. I have priced it up at a local dealer who has given me a price which includes fitting. However, I can buy the product on line at a fraction of the price. Can any flooring person lay karndean or do I need a specialist fitter? Is it expensive to lay? Is buying it on line a good idea and will it save money in the long run?

Hi Ally. The official Line for Laying Karndean/ Amtico is that the fitter must be registered. This is to guarentee the product. If there is any fault no matter how small these companies will require the reg number of the fitter. May i suggest when and if you want to advertise on this site is to strictly state the fitter must be registered and there you have your back up I hope this helps regards Jeff

You need a specialist fitter to ensure the subfloor is prepared correctly and it is laid properly, if you buy from the internet you will pay more for the fitting by any experienced and reputable fitter

Hi Ally, always go for a registered installer, this can be a very expensive project ,and always good if you can see some of there work, but being a registered installer they should be on the installers database.hope this helps, regards john select floors
