Can we lay laminate flooring over tile adhesive

Posted by David Trotter, on
We want to lay laminate flooring in our front porch/ toilet. I have lifted the floor tiles that were there previously and the adhesive used to lay the tiles is still stuck to the floor that they were laid on. Do we need to sand this right off -what a mess that would cause- or is there any other way we can lay flooring.

Hello, a good quality underlay should be sufficient to cover the adhesive then you can proceed to lay your laminate floor. Cheers Ian

Hi David as everyone has said self levelling is the answer but be careful which type you use as not all of them are compatible when there is glue residue and it may not take to the floor. Alan

Hi David Simply lay self levelling compound over the adhesive, you will only need a skim over, much easier than chipping it all up. Kind regards Ian Handyman express

Self leveling compound would do the job mix to a thick liquid pour out & move around with a trowel And will find its level G. Branch plastering

Hi David I would suggest to buy a bag of self leveling combound first then using trowel to spread all over area ( wait a couple days to dry)then lay laminate underlayer then a floor Best regards Rafal
