Joining Amtico floors

Posted by Laura Semmens, on
I've had a new Amtico 'wood' floor laid in my downstairs bathroom. This joins the kitchen/dining room which has Amtico 'slate' tiles. The new floor is very slightly higher approx 4 mm with no gap between the two floors. They have put a silver matt coloured strip over the join which I hate but was told the wood type strip was not suitable as there was no gap between the floors. Is there anything wood or wood like on the market that would work on my floors? I keep looking at the silver strip and it's really annoying me.

Hi Laura could you get your fitter to cut an expansion gap between the two floors to allow the wooden door bar to be fitted ( a gap should have been left anyway)? Alternatively it might be possible to remove the back from the door bar so that it will sit flat and bond it onto the floor preferably with a flexible adhesive. Ed
