The landlord owner of a property above my flat replace carpet flooring with wooden laminate flooring in the living room and the noise has become unbearable since. After a lot of negotiating I have managed to convince the owner to let me change the flooring in his flat but he wants me to put a carpet on top of the laminate.
Is this feasible? Can we put quality soundproof underlay under a new carpet on top of laminate flooring? I understand that we will never eliminate all noise but a substantial reduction is what we are looking for.
