Laminate and Jablite.

Posted by Doug Smith, on
We have a very cold lounge floor with a vinyl covering. We think that the covering is direct onto he concrete below. To improve the insulation I am considering using jablite or celotex boards straight onto the vinyl with laminate flooring directly on top of the insulation. Will this work or do I need some sort of MDF board on top of the jablite with another layer of thin insulation roll before I lay the laminate ?

Doug. How old is the property. If before 1970 it will need a DPM especially if it is a concrete flooor Using celutex will raise the flooring considerably MDF is not recommended for flooring because it is a composite material and not moisture resitant Contact Guild Flooring regards Jeff

Hi dough there are various laminate flooring underlays on the market that have different thermal values so I would check those out because if you use another product it can invalidate your garuntees on the laminate flooring. Hope this helps. Alan
