Hi there. Just to add from the previous response. If the trunk is thicker than 4 inches you would need to employ a tree surgeon. Hope this helps. Elliot

Hello Denese, sound advice from Harvey. Elliot is confused, there is no such requirement. Also make sure the person you decide on knows what they are doing as many people advertising themselves as tree surgeons or gardeners have very little knowledge of plants or trees and can very often cause serious damage. Ask them to explain what they propose to do and why.

Hi denese most gardeners will carry public liabilty insurance for hedges up to 10 feet high any taller and you may require a Tree Surgeon, best to ask the contractor if he is fully insured, as you will have a duty of care for anyone working on your property. Also they will need a waste carriers liscence to remove the waste from your house. Hope this helps Harvey
