Best way to care for new turf? It's growing nicely and I'm watering it every day if no rain. Should I trim long or short? Leave cuttings or remove?

Hi, you are doing it right so far, let it grow to around 3 inches and then cut back on inch at a time down to about. 1 inch. Avoid walking on it when it is wet or soft as you will leave dents. A good rule of thumb is to lift a small piece and look for root growth this is a sign that the turf has taken and is ready to cut good luck Harvey

I'd ease right back on the watering Jackie. Once the grass is obviously growing you want the roots to be putting on growth too. I'm all for regular cutting but not regular watering. Lawns are found in the wild but are not green year round. Why not save a vast amount of water and let the lawn change colour it will 'green up' after the next heavy rain

Hi Jackie, Once your turf has started rooting you can start cutting it (pull up a little corner and you should see the roots). As with all lawns the best thing to do is cut often (weekly if possible but fortnightly as a minimum) and never cut more than a third of the growth at a time. I'd recommend about an inch as about the perfect length for a garden lawn. As for mulching, it's ok to do this if you're only leaving behind a small amount of clippings and they've been chopped finely. I hope this is helpful to you, Cheers, Craig
