thinking of having a "party" patio put in my garden not sure of what type of slabbing to go for concrete slabs or natural stone (e.g. INDIAN SANDSTONE).

Hi Bevm, Not sure exactly what you mean by a 'party' patio but I guess it'll be somewhere to sit out in or dance depending on your mood! Sandstone paving generally tends to be riven (ie a natural split surface with a more 'rough' look to it) but you can get sawn sandstone as well (it will cost a fair bit more, sometimes twice the price of riven). The benefits of sandstone over concrete is it's beauty, it just looks so much better. There are also more colours running through it as it's a natural material and so tends to match in better with gardens. AND it's very economical. Before you make a choice visit one of your local builders supply depots where you will be able to see a sample of different types of paving in the flesh (much better than looking at a brochure). They may well even have a display area built showing the different options they have. All types of paving (if properly installed) will be tough enough to handle any number of parties. I hope it all works out. Cheers, Craig Young Spruce Garden Services Edinburgh & Lothians.
