Hello, All plants require our care and attention. Especially in the beginning. In your case, I advise to plant evergreen conifers (arborvitae, cedar, falsecypress, juniper, small pine, torreya etc.) and evergreen deciduous (red and yellow barberry, boxwood, honeysuckle, laurel, periwinkle, rhododendron, winter creeper etc. Most of them like acid soil and bark.
