Wall plants

Posted by Ken Malone, on
I have a wall 2' high and 10' long. I wish to cover it with a low growing, long lasting, flowering plant which I can either buy or grow from seed. All ideas appreciated.

Hello Ken, For flowers and berries try Cotoneaster horizontalis, this will grow up to cover the wall and also outwards to cover some of the ground in front. can be pruned back. Also Vinca (periwinkle) major or minor as the name suggests major has bigger leaves. Both evergreen and can be cut back to keep control. Ceanothus repans, blue flowers early season, There is also a range of smaller growing Hebes depends on how exposed the situation is as to performance with these, and not forgetting Hypericum. Regards, Phil
