Patio

I would like to know the average charge I should expect to incur for labour when laying a small patio - approx. 10.5 meters square

Hello Julie It's hard to give a figure without seeing the job as it will depend on access, material being used, amount of dig out required ,manhole covers, drainage etc.. If you were looking at using sandstone ( the most common due to its relatively cheap price for a natural stone ) expect to pay anything between £80- £110 per square metre for a good job. (this includes all materials ) If you are supplying all the materials and the patio is ready to lay ( all the preparation is done ) then a good slab layer would be able to lay that area in under a day. Not sure what the rates are where you are but I would imagine £250 for the day would be about right for a man plus his tools. If this is within your budget and you are serious about getting the job done then post it on the site and three tradespersons will contact you to arrange a visit to look at the work and then supply you with quotes. Check references and make sure you speak to three previous clients and ask to see some of their previous work first hand. Mark Surrey Hills Landscaping
