Expensive paving slabs compared to standard

Posted by A Arnold, on
Is there added benefit to buying expensive paving slabs compared to standard ones, in terms of colour durability and cleaning/maintenance?

Hello A, The bulk of the cost of the job is in the prep and the labour. Approx 20% of the total cost is in the finishing material. Splashing out on a nicer finish is sometimes worth it but it depends on the situation. Sandstone paving slabs are actually very economical and look fantastic but they're not suitable for using for a driveway. Grey concrete slabs are cheap hard wearing and easy to clean but they're not the prettiest! There are also different qualities of concrete slabs and sandstone slabs. If you really want to push the boat out there's some lovely Caithness stone or granite setts. If you're planning on employing a landscaper to carry out the work they should be able to advise you on the different options and corresponding costs. Hi For example Indian sandstone or concrete paving. Concrete paving is hard wearing looks ok . Indian sandstone is hard wearing and looks great but far more expensive but you will get a nicer looking product that blends in with the garden . Hope this helps Edifice projects
