I have work not happy with my garden

Posted by PATRICIA ABRAM, on
I used this site because I thought he would be good- I have had an architect look at the work, and I wish to clarify what I can do next, I am composing a letter to the trader but terrified that he may use bully boy tactics on me. The main problem is that he re- did my paving stones and he the stones are high in the garden and do not meet the path outside my garden- there has been a lump of concrete to make a slope at the outside of the garden to the path outside. The concrete has not been laid properly and the contractor has taken up the old stones put a membrane down and not taken the soil away to allow for the stones to be lower. There are other issues in that he wants a lot more money from me You were the trusted website - what do I do?

Sorry to hear you've not had a positive experience with the tradesperson you hired Trish. We'd always advise contacting the tradesperson directly to give them the opportunity to rectify the situation; they have a legal right to an opportunity to fix the work, just as you have a right to have the work fixed. One thing you can do is leave the tradesperson a rating; this will not only let other homeowners know about your experience, but it can encourage the tradesperson to resolve the situation. We'd highly recommend you take a look at our homeowners' guide to dispute resolution as well: ratedpeople.com/c/help/home-owners-guidelines-for-dispute-resolution, where you'll find a lot of useful advice, as well as your legal rights as a consumer.
