What can I do if a contractor didn't complete the job?

Unfortunately I have already paid said contractor as he seemed like a stand up guy, I had to return to work, and he apparently left the job (garden clearance) shortly after I did... It was only a few hours worth, but I paid him more than the cost of a skip rental to do the job myself, as I had hoped to lay down topsoil this weekend.
