Driveway stabilisation

Posted by Alan Wells, on
My garage access is up a slope off an unpaved road. The garage door is about 2m away from the road and the incline to reach is is probably about 25%. The gound is very soft and my car slips and digs in whenever I put it into the garage. What can I do to stabilise the gound? Could a parking mat or similar just be put into the existing surface?

Hi Alan! Thanks for the question. Yes there are a number of things you could do. We have come across this issue before with access on slopes.. You can either concrete the gradient to just make it completely solid. Or yes as you mentioned. Use the mats which you would then infill with small stone to use as a hard access pad. But obviously the ground underneath them would also need to be weight bearing to stop them sinking. Hope this is helpful! Chris.
