Removing a tree in my garden

Posted by Muhammad Khan, on
I have a large approximately 100-years “Monkey puzzle” tree in my garden. I would like to have it either substantially trimmed back or preferably, removed entirely. There is no Tree Preservation Order related to this or any tree on my property. My home is not in any designated “ Conservation Area. Questions: 1. Can I get this tree cut-down and removed? 2. Are there any other consequences I need consider, for example: Are any subsidence issues likely should the tree’s roots have grown beneath the foundations of our house or those of any adjoining houses, once this tree is cut-down/removed? And … would we be legally liable for that? 3. Would I need permission from the Local Authority/Council to cut down the tree? 4. What would the cost be for such a job? The tree is taller than the house’s roof.

What would you like to do now?
