Moved into a new property. There is a gas fire that has been capped. What needs to be checked to get the gas fire working, does chimney need checking?

Dear Claire I would suggest to get serviced all apliances before you will start using them. Gas engineer will advice you why gas fire had been capped ( it might be capped due to a fault or any other reasons) also draft in chimney should check for your safety.regards Rafal
