Central heating not working, but hot water is fine

I have vaillant Ecotac plus boiler, hot water is perfectly fine but the central heating is not working, when you turn the heating on, boiler calls for heating but cuts out and radiator sign on the boiler start flashing, somebody told me there is blockage in the system that's why boiler cuts out, is that right and what can be done about it.
