Ian, Get back the Engineer that serviced it and ask them to advise what the exact problem is and cost to fix.
Combi boiler hot water/burner problems

My Halstead Ace Combi boiler has a habit of providing hot water when first required, but if hot water is required again later in the day the burner won't turn on and no hot water comes through. It's only just been serviced so I'm not sure what the problem is? Something to do with the thermostat?
