Flushing radiators

Posted by Pamela Till, on
My radiators are only mid-warm. I've tried bleeding them but it doesn't make any difference. Should I flush the system through and if so, can I do this myself?

Sounds like you need a power flush. This is not something that you can do yourself, as you would need a powerflush machine, chemicals, neutraliser, and disconnection of the pump depending on the type of heating system you have. British Gas charge £820. we charge £600

Dear Pamela I would suggest to post job description on main website if you are not confident how to do it. Once you've posted a job with us and had a local tradesman quote, you should have been sent an emailed link to his profile. From here, you can read previous customer recommendations and ratings. I hope this will help Best regards Rafal

Make sure the radiators are balanced ( even heat across all the radiators in the house) before considering flushing. Power flushing is not always necessary, but if you decide to do it get in a professional that knows the procedures for using the necessary chemicals.

Hi Pamela, Can you send some more info about how old the system is, . Also how many radiators you have. How big is your house? There is power flushing and there is hot flushing. Hot flushing is a lot cheaper than power flushing. I would look at the balancing the system first and considering flushing if this doesn't improve. Ed pertev E.P.PLUMBINGHEATING

You may be able to flush the system yourself if you have the relevant experience plus you will need to confirm if you do have a sludge problem.

What would you like to do now?
