Hot water pressure

Posted by Peter Bacon, on
I am trying to increase water pressure by raising the header tank. Would increasing the size of the tank also increase water pressure? If so by what degree? Thanks

Tim Partington

Hi Peter, the size of the hot water tank makes no difference to the pressure, it's the height and size of the cold storage tank that makes the difference, a good solution is to install a single impeller whole house booster pump on the hot water supply pipe off the hot tank, this would increase pressure to all taps and showers. Regards Tim.

Hi Peter. Yes you can raise the storage tank I'n the roofspace, which will give you better pressure. You can also install a pump that will boost pressure no problem. That,ll do the trick!!

When raising your tank every 1m raise will give you 0.1 bar pressure if you install a higher tank it will give you more pressure hope this helps cheers Ray

The header tank only affect the central heating not you water, the best thing would be to convert it into a sealed system. Cold or hot water pressure is another subject.
